Brett Findlater has been part of the Geomatics community in western Canada for over 20 years. After completing a computer programming degree at Mount Royal College, Brett began his work career with companies during the early stages of GPS technology. He has assisted and supported countless clients throughout the rapid adoption of GNSS technology.
Brett worked for Leica Geosystems as a direct sales representative before forming Spatial Technologies with Rick Kurash in 2002.
As part of the ownership team, along with Richard Andrews, Brett continues to focus on providing our clients with the best service and support, while continuing to be a leading supplier of high quality measurement technologies to the Geomatics industry.
Richard Andrews has been part of the surveying, engineering and Geomatics community since graduating from the University of Calgary Geomatics Engineering program in 1991. Richard has an extensive background in surveying, and has obtained his British Columbia and Canada Lands Surveyor commissions, in addition to being a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA.
Richard was a support engineer for Leica Geosystems and has worked throughout North America providing support and conducting many seminars on GPS processing and survey adjustments. Richard also worked closely with the Leica Geosystems product development teams at Leica’s headquarters in Switzerland providing input and testing new Geomatics products.
Richard has been with Spatial Technologies since 2005 and as part of the ownership team, along with Brett Findlater, he is actively involved in ensuring Spatial Technologies is at the forefront of all measurement technologies.
Rick has enjoyed his many years working with and becoming friends with many clients and colleagues throughout North America. Rick is enjoying his active retirement but can still be reached through Spatial Technologies should you need to make contact with him.
Jeff Johnston, ALS, P.Eng assumed the role of Technical Sales Professional for Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan in late 2012. Jeff has worked on, or managed, everything from small scale topographic surveys, to large commercial developments, legal subdivisions, well sites and pipelines, as well as the high precision needs of the Calgary LRT project.
A Calgary native, Jeff is also a Professional Engineer and Alberta Land Surveyor with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Jeff’s Geomatics Engineering degree from the University of Calgary (1997), Alberta Land Surveyors Commission (2004) and P.Eng designation (2005) allows Jeff to give unique insight to the needs, challenges, and successes of the Geomatics industry.
Tim O’Bray joined the Spatial Technologies technical sales team covering southern Alberta and Saskatchewan in 2012. Tim has over 20 years experience in the Alberta surveying industry. He has owned and operated Talon Survey Solutions in Calgary since 2003. Tim will help to strengthen our position as one of the most trusted suppliers of high quality measurement solutions.
Cletus Young is responsible for Spatial Technologies Machine Control products for Western Canada. He is an industry veteran with a Geomatics Engineering Technology Degree from NAIT in 1988. Cletus has demonstrated field, office and administration experience with top organizations and manufactures in Canada and the USA. Cletus’s customers will continue to benefit from his exceptional customer service skills, product and technical knowledge, and his assurance that all customers are completely satisfied with all aspects of installation, support and service.
Matt Teppler graduated from the University of Calgary in 2003 with a BSc in Geography specializing in GIS and remote sensing. He spends the majority of his time in the service shop providing customers with all levels of service support. With service training from both Leica and Juniper systems, he is capable of providing quality, factory certified repair to Leica GPS equipment as well as Allegro data collectors. In addition to his responsibilities in the service shop, Matt prepares and manages Spatial’s extensive rental fleet, provides assistance to the rest of the Spatial team during various training seminars and deals with much of the shipping and receiving.
John Tong joined Spatial Technologies in September 2014 after having worked as a Project Engineer at an EPC company managing wellsites and pipeline design projects in Western Canada. John has extensive experience with a major GNSS manufacturer as an Applications Engineer providing product management, technical support, product training for their GNSS, GIS, and mapping products. A graduate of the University of Calgary Geomatics Engineering program (2005), John has received his P.Eng designation in both Alberta and British Columbia. He has in-depth applications and product experience in the Geomatics industry in Western Canada which he applies when supporting customers. With his knowledge, resourcefulness and enthusiasm our customers will ensure continued top level support to assist them to maximize their productivity.
Educated in Geomatics at BCIT Burke has several years experience using Leica equipment in the field as a Senior Surveyor in the USA. He was also part of Leica’s software development team in Montreal prior to joining Spatial. Burke’s customer focused style ensures client satisfaction.
Ted Kusovac joined the Spatial Edmonton office in November 2005 as an inside sales and support representative. Ted has over 20 years of professional Oilfield Supply, Industrial, Survey, GPS and Forestry experience and he began his career selling valves, pipes and fittings to the oilfield industry. Over the years, Ted has worked for a number of companies including Century Vallen and Canadian Forestry Equipment. His philosophy is: “Do whatever is necessary to ensure that every customer is 110% satisfied.”. Ted is a highly resourceful inside sales and support rep and his extensive experience and education are a valuable addition to the Spatial Technologies Edmonton office.
Yuri joined the Spatial team on July 1, 2005. Yuri is in charge of the service department in our Edmonton office. In 1975 Yuri graduated with a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the Ural Technical University in Russia. In 1979 Yuri began his career developing electronic distance measurement equipment and received his Masters in 1989, further developing his skills and expertise. In 2000 Yuri moved to Israel where he joined the Leica dealer, training on Leica and Sokkia instruments and receiving factory training in Switzerland. Yuri is certified on Leica total stations from 300 through to 1200 and on Leica’s System 1200 and Viva GPS. Yuri’s vast technical experience can help you with your questions and repair issues.
Joining Spatial in May of 2008 Val Wallace brings a strong background in finance and accounting to the position of accountant.
Donavin Kerestes is one of Spatial Technologies’s Service Technicians. He has an Electronics Engineering Technology Diploma from Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and has also received Leica Viva training. Donavin’s training on our senseFly UAV platform also gives Spatial Technologies full service capabilities for our eBee UAV platform. Donavin brings this extensive electronics experience and knowledge to our expanding Edmonton service shop.
Keith has been selling and supporting surveying equipment for customers in B.C for over 15 years. He completed a diploma in Geomatics Technology at BCIT in 1996, and worked in the Land Surveying industry. Keith has had extensive training on Leica’s GNSS & Total Station products and enjoys helping customers find the tools that best suit their requirements. Keith is located in the Vancouver Lower Mainland area, and is a Technical Sales Rep as well as the Branch Manager of the Richmond office.
Parker graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia in 1998 with a BSc in Natural Resource Management. Parker has been selling and supporting British Columbia surveying clients with Leica Geosystems products for 10 years. Before that, Parker spent 5 years working as a surveyor for a construction company and 3 years performing GPS surveys for a consulting company both in Northern British Columbia. Parker knows the territory and the needs of his clients and enjoys being there and readily available to help reach their goals.
Victor Russell has been selling and supporting users of survey equipment over the past 34 years and is widely known and respected in the industry. He completed his diploma in Geomatics Technology at BCIT in 1975.
His sales focus is on our construction product line as well as the wholesale market. Victor works out of the Vancouver (Richmond) office.
Gary joins us in the Calgary service department. Educated in Bulgaria, Gary moved to Canada where he gained many years experience servicing both electronic and mechanical instruments.
Wendy Jiang is part of our service centre in Calgary. With a wide range of skills working with TPS, locators, and laser levels, Wendy has been servicing equipment for our local clients since 2001. Wendy graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Surveying Instrument from Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping in China.
Laura brings her professional but upbeat personality to the receptionist/administrative assistant position.
Nigel Anderson is responsible for the shipping, receiving, organization and logistics of products for our Calgary Warehouse. Nigel is taking courses towards his Geomatics Certificate of Achievement at SAIT to broaden his background to further assist sales associates, customers and our service technicians with the expanding inventory and technology Spatial Technologies offers.
Debbie Campbell recently joined our Spatial Edmonton office and joins us with almost 20 years of experience in the administrative field. Debbie is highly qualified in dealing with customer service satisfaction and prides herself in this area of expertise. Debbie’s sense of humor and happy disposition is a great addition to the Edmonton office.
Christopher Griffith has a B.S. in Surveying Engineering from Penn State University and is completing an M.Sc.E in Geodesy from University of New Brunswick. He has been working in the construction and engineering industries for 20 years and specializes in GNSS monitoring systems. Christopher has experience as an estimator for excavation and utility contractors as well as land surveying and engineering, and also has a background as both a research and teaching assistant at University of New Brunswick.
Dave’s shop, Don Gore Instrument Service, has been located in our Richmond office since June 2010. He graduated from an instrumentation program at BCIT in 1981 and started with Don Gore as a Wild service technician shortly after. Dave has been factory trained on all Leica’s new equipment over the years, and is well respected as the top equipment technician in BC.
James services everything from Leica’s laser levels to our robotic Total Stations. He began as Dave’s apprentice in 2005 and has completed training at Leica’s factory in Heerbrugg, Switzerland.
Mike Botic completed his diploma in Technology at B.C.I.T. in Sustainable Resource Management in 2012, with a primary focus on environmental community planning. He has gained valuable experience with GIS/GPS mapping while at B.C.I.T. for field navigation, resource planning and management in B.C. in various vegetation and terrain conditions. Using field data collectors in the urban environment to map storm water drains, urban streams, collect tree inventories and more. Mike has over 15 years in customer service experience that he gained in the hospitality industry and looks forward to bringing his experience to help every Spatial Technology customer.
